Photo Scavenger Hunt

Assignment : Directions: For your first photo shoot you will be going on a scavenger hunt. You will need to find interesting examples of the items listed below. I expect you to use your knowledge of the rules of composition when taking photos. These items chosen are meant to build your skills of seeing (actually looking) things in your surroundings more carefully as well as to develop your artistic senses. These items also contain various elements & principles of design in order for you to be aware of how these fundamentals work within a composition. Shoot as many examples as you would like. Pick two of your best shots for each word and place them in a in Google drive “Scavenger Hunt.” Write caption according to the listed names below. But the best one of the two you will post on your blog.

1. A line – curvy, wavy, straight, diagonal… your choice

2. Contrast – in color, in texture, in size, in shape, in style, in point of view… your choice

3. Beauty: what that looks like to you is all your choice

4. An Ants View Of The World – looking at the world from down low or very small (camera beneath a subject)

5. Shape – look for natural, organic, or accidental shapes–circle, square, rectangle, triangle, octagon, hexagon… your choice

6. Form – anything that is 3 dimensional – it has length, height & width, it exists in the “round”

7. Something That Represents You – Anything… really think about how you could do this visually 8. Texture – soft, smooth, rough, crusty, bumpy, sharp…

9. A Symbol – Something you can look at & understand visually – without words you understand its meaning

10. The Rule of Thirds – find or create strong examples

This first picture shows contrast as the buildings are darker and the sunset over shining the buildings at night.

This photo presents texture inside the flower. The details are well displayed in the flower in a closeup as well.

This photo is a combination of both beauty and contrast. The sunset presents a darker shade being over shined by a lighter shade. This overall presents beauty in the sunset.

In this photo we see contrast and beauty once again. The clouds have have nice color and it appears like cotton candy in the sky.

The picture of the flower tree presents an ants point a view as it has a lower angle to it. For an ant it appears like a giant tree and maybe even for us.

This is another example of an ants point of view, but also an example of texture. An ant would see this as large and scary. The texture in the puppies fur is well presented as well.

This shows shape in the flower and texture as you can see the details of the flower.

Lines is being presented in this photo. In the corner of the photo you can see lines one the building. In the left corner you see a row of trees.

This is a photo that represents me. I love the ocean and nature and standing my the ocean brings me joy and happiness. It also contains a lot of beauty.
